Halloween is a time for fictional characters, face paints, and the occasional monster.
On Saturday October 29, 2016, local resident Robert Riccardo was fishing on the Ronkonkoma Lake on the Portion Road side, when he got the biggest surprize this Halloween.
At 14lb 1oz this smallmouth has officially been recorded as the new state record, breaking the old one by more than a pound.
When asked, Robert said he had been fishing that spot for the past 15 years, and has produced some nice fish. He said, "the bite has been terrible and i due for a monster bass, because I've never witnessed a pull like that from a bass."
This is a once in a lifetime fish, and he plans on going out on the water again as quick as possible.
