Three unclaimed suitcases from Panama have sparked a large-scale drug investigation in the GTA after customs officers found more than 90 kilograms of cocaine at Erin Mills Town Centre (shopping cnetre) in Mississauga, Ontario Canada.

The RCMP has taken over the investigation and is looking for one or more drug traffickers responsible for the large shipment.

According to Canada Border Services Agency officers, the seizure happened June 22nd as officials were monitoring luggage that came off a flight from Panama City, Panama.

Officers watched the luggage as it was transferred to the baggage hall and noticed three unclaimed suitcases in the baggage hall, each strapped with recycled bag tags.

CBSA officers opened the three bags and inside each suitcase were two small backpacks that contained 90 brick-shaped bundles, which tested positive for suspected cocaine. This seizure comes after CBSA officials discovered 118 kilograms of cocaine earlier this year at Pearson.

“Our officers are always on the lookout for contraband,” said Goran Vragovic, CBSA Regional Director General of the Greater Toronto Area Region. “This large seizure demonstrates our commitment to Canadians to intercept illegal narcotics and prevent them from hitting the streets of our communities.”
