Only days after shipping out Hjalmarsson and Panarin, the Chicago Blackhawks have made another trade; this time acquiring Wayne Simmonds from the Philadelphia Flyers. In return the Flyers receive John Hayden (2013, 74 overall), a 2018 1st round pick and 2018 3rd round pick.

Simmonds while appearing for 82 games with the Flyers last season put up a respectable 54 points. Simmonds is a strong, hard working power forward who does his best offensive work in front of the net. He also packs a sneaky shot and uses good quickness and positioning in the offensive zone. Can be very effective on both special teams, an aspect the Blackhawks struggled in last season.

John Hayden appeared in 12 games at the end of last season for the Blackhawks scoring one goal and adding three assists. Hayden is projected to be a power forward to be reckoned with in the years to come. He owns outstanding size (6-3, 223 pounds) for a forward at the National Hockey League level, fairly larger than of Simmonds (6-2, 185 pounds). Hayden also gives the Flyers options as he can play both the center and wing positions. He owns a good shot and is also a physical presence up front, with two years remaining on his entry level contract.
