Contractors for the Madison Beach Hotel got the surprise of their lives when they unearthed human remains during the repair of an inground sprinkler system. A police forensics unit determined the remains to be from the 18th century. Ground pentetrating radar was brought and discovered approximately 15 other skeletons buried in the disputed grassy strip that is the site of a legal dispute between local residents and the hotel over excessive noise. Other artifacts unearthed to include a cutlass and a black powder pistol indicate this may be the grave of some of Edward Teach's crew, the infamous pirate Blackbeard, who murdered crewmembers who attempted a mutiny on Madison's shores in the early 18th century. A local psychic previously proclaimed the fire at the local restaurant Christie's to be the work of a diabolical spirit awakened by the loud music and that the spirit's body was buried nearby. Local law enforcement and hotel management advise that anyone caught digging up the grass will be fined and or arrested.
