In a unanimous decision Thursday evening, Charlottesville City Council has voted to change the city's name in an effort to promote unity and harmony. In addition, council has elected to build a 30 foot tall barrier surrounding the city, complete with drawbridge and moat as hostile organizations continue to threaten those in favor of the renaming of area historical parks. Construction bids for this project will be accepted until July 21 with an anticipated award date of July 28. The finished project is expected to be completed by 2019 with other localities such as Augusta County, Staunton City, Waynesboro City, and the Town Blacksburg committing to a majority of construction costs if local officials promise to place a big lock on the drawbridge and throw away the key.
