Considering the income to the community during there local community yard sale weekend, city council has decided to try a weekly event starting in 2018. It will start Memorial Day weekend and continue until Labor Day. With one exception, the yearly Bicentennial celebration weekend. Citizens must purchase a Vendors License from the city. Standard cost will be 25.00 per weekend or a summer license can be purchased for 200.00. To sell food and certain other items would add an increase to these cost.

Council has determined an increase in city funds to be between 4 and 5 million for the year. They also have stated this extra revenue would be used to establish a skateboarding facility for the elderly. Plans at this time are for the location to be at the old IGA building, next to the nursing home. Betsy White, 72, said she could not wait to get "her groove on" to the song "Kung Fu Fighting".
