Believe it or not, each bag of rice contains at lease 12 to 30 dried maggots. They're not considered disgusting in some countries and they're not unsafe to consume and they actually provide nutrients your body could use, so manufacturers and Texas Health have decided that if it's extra protein? Then why not? Don't get squimish now... You wouldn't have even known if we hadn't of pointed it. Do you think they could get every single maggot out of the bins? Rice dryers have so much heat in them that yes, maggots can form in the bottom where it gets wet, so they just mix it up from bottom and dry them. So next time you're eating that bowl of rice just remember, its protein.
