We've all heard the term, "money doesn't grow on trees." One man has proven that, in fact money doesn't grow on trees, it actually grows in the ground!
In the fall of 1856, Idaho potato farmer, Jim "Big Spud" Chapman was in the field harvesting potatoes when he discovered 12 one dollar bills in the ground. After the discovery he ran to his family with the news and sadly, no one believed him. Upon a family trip to the field, they were all shocked to see money growing from the ground. Jim's young grandson, Chester told him that he dropped a bag of pennies in the field the day before. The family watered the cash crop and when they returned the next day, the $1 bills had become $2 bills. Within 2 weeks, Chester's pennies had turned into thousands of dollars and allowed Jim to retire from potato farming.
To this day, most people don't believe that money comes from the ground. If you're ever in need of some quick cash, just plant a bag of pennies and see what happens.
