Residents along Long Creek between the entrance to Broad Bay and Marina Shores reported viewing a huge mammal swimming along and surfacing occasionally. Marine Biologist, Dr Phillip Armstein investigated and confirmed the mammal to be a North Atlantic right whale which is a baleen whale, one of three right whale species belonging to the genus Eubalaena, all of which were formerly classified as a single species.
