(Mt. Hope) The 237 acre lot currently leased by the Craftsfeild Corporation (Parent company of Target and Kroger) is soon to be the home of an auto racing drag strip. Construction is set to begin later this fall, with a planned opening in spring of 2019. Funding and management comes from Summit Racing Equipment, a large supplier of aftermarket auto parts. We have talked to car enthusiasts across Raleigh county, and many are thrilled with the news. Many mentioning that the nearest tracks are hours away, and many out of state. One resident also suggests that the complex will aid in reducing the amount of illegal street racing in the area. (Updated 7/21)
