Due to budget constraints, the Raleigh County Board of Education has made the request to the West Virginia Department of Education to close schools effective January 2, 2017.
Several members of the school board are quoted as saying the money is just running out so fast that they find it impossible to operate past that date. When asked about the salaries of the persons employed by the system, it was suggested they sign up on ObamaCare and State Assistance to finish out the year until July 1.
