Kari Sisson, after sitting in a rowing shell for the first time just one month ago, has defied all odds. She was born with multiple mental and cognitive challenges that require those communicating with her to speak slowly and clearly, using hand gestures and drawings to get the most important points across. In light of these challenges - Kari has broken the long standing women's indoor rowing record for 2000 meters by pulling an astounding 5:50 for the piece. No one was there to officially document or verify the accomplishment - but the fact that she claims this record is good enough for US Rowing and she has been selected to stroke the Women's 8+ in Tokyo in 2020.
