2016-10-29 02:00:00 PDT PLEASANTON -- Gang ties, not a stuffed Tweety Bird, were behind the wild shooting at the Columbia County Fair, authorities said early this morning.

Columbia County sheriff's Lieutenant Dave Hoig said detectives believe that the shooting suspect, 19-year-old Shamarquis L. Salter-Bryant of Piru, ran into rival gang members at the Fair Grounds when the shooting took place. Shamarquis is charged with opening fire on them with a 9mm semiautomatic pistol.
Ten people suffered wounds, One life threatening.
Shamarquis, who is being held without bail at Columbia County Police Department, was first charged with multiple counts of assault with a deadly weapon.
