Suave BBC newsreader George Maxwell Alagiah (60) has branded the popular horror themed Satanic Holiday as a "load of old pish" in an uncharacteristic outburst yesterday.

He was referring to the over-commercialisation of ancient rituals in a Globalised Society and how things are subverted subconsciously and turned into yet another money-making exercise.

Speaking from the balcony of his luxury London apartment, Mr Alagiah added that before long they will have invented "Grandparent Days", "holidays celebrating the invention of some obscure piece of technology or curtural phenomenon" or even a "jet pack with spacious area on the back to advertise the latest mobile phone."

As of today, Mr Alagiah was unavailable for comment.
