Troy Elliott, an assistant football coach at Sardis Middle School, has announced his hiring as an assistant/head coach in waiting at Auburn. He has frequently applied for other collegiate positions, but this is the first that "fit". "I'll be fulfilling the QB coach position until the end of the season. It's been like a dream." Elliott said Auburn Athletic Director Jay Jacobs is the only athletic director who responded to his emails. Sardis Middle is scrambling to fill the vacant position. "He's created the second most successful middle school program ever and you can't just hire anyone into that legacy." said Etowah County Superintendent Alan Cosby. "He'll be missed, but it will be a pleasure to see him turn things around at Auburn."
