Police have launched a man hunt after a car collided with a pensioner on Oldham Road in Ashton-Under-Lyne at around 8:42am.
The 87 year old woman is in hospital and her condition is said to be critical. She has not yet been named but is believed to be local.
The woman driving the car has been named by Greater Manchester Police as Sarah Chapman of no fixed address but she is believed to be living in the Stalybridge area and also has links to Ashton-Under-Lyme.
"At 8:42am this morning a car collided with an elderly lady on Oldham Road in Ashton. A number of witnesses have stated they saw the driver, Sarah Chapman 24, driving recklessly with her mobile phone in one hand and a bottle of vodka in the other, if anybody knows where she is can you please come forward as we don't these sort of people on the roads."
