(NEWSER) – A 23 year old local wilson man won $1 million in the North Carolina Lottery after buying a winning ticket with money he found at a local Food Lion. Taylor Morales had not bought a lottery ticket in over 2 years, but when he found a $20 bill laying on the ground in a local Food Lion last week, he used it to buy two scratch-off tickets at a local sheetz, the North Carolina Lottery said yesterday. One of those tickets led to the $1 million top prize. "I scratched the ticket outside of the store. I told my husband who I was with that I didn't know if it was real but, 'I think I just won a million dollars,'" Morales said in a statement.

He also has a second chance to win up to $25,000 for the other ticket he purchased that was not a winner. (As the North Carolina Lottery explains in a press release, all non-winning "scratcher" tickets can be entered into a weekly drawing for a chance to win additional prize money.) Lottery officials said the store will receive a $5,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket last week. Morales plans to save the money for now—but he says he may begin leaving $20 bills on the street in random places to spread his good fortune.
