Owen Dunne, 19 (pictured above), from Athy, Co.Kildare was rushed to The Midlands General Hospital in Portlaoise, Co.Laois late Tuesday evening. An unnamed spokesperson spoke to us in detail about the event. "He was naked on the couch Sunday afternoon playing with his pet hamster on his stomach when all of a sudden it climbed inside his "rear-end". He tried to tempt it out using a carrot but to no success." the spokesperson said. "The hamster seemed to really like its new home and refused to leave for 2 days" he added, "Owen said that the hamsters fur rubbing against his insides made for an "enjoyable tingling sensation" but he feared he'd forget about the hamster and end up sticking something else up there and hurting it". He was rushed to hospital and undertook immediate SHI (Sudden Hamster Insertion) surgery at 9:30pm Tuesday and was kept overnight. We spoke to a tired and broken Owen today, "It was a tough few days, I haven't seen Jake (hamster) since the incident and I just hope he's ok" was all he was willing to say. More to follow in the coming days.
