Grant Viar of Thomasville,GA had a morning he will never forget. Mr. Viar never knew what this morning would have in store for him. Just like any other early morning deer hunt, Viar hopped out of bed and put on his boots. "I started to stay in bed and not even go hunting this morning." Said Viar. He is now very glad he decided to go. After only after 20 minutes in his favorite honey hole, Viar heard something loud that he stated sound like a freight train tearing down the woods. What Viar saw next he couldn't believe his eyes. Viar states that he saw what must have been 25-30 does running like something was after them. A few seconds later he saw the buck of a lifetime. This is where the story gets interesting. Viar raised his gun, scoped in the big buck and pulled the trigger. Click. The gun misfired. Viar thought that the biggest deer he had ever seen was gone and would get away. To his suprise, the deer walked directly toward his stand. Viar waited patiently until the deer was at the foot of the tree he was in. Viar decided to jump on the deer and make an attempt to stab the deer with one of his homemade knives. Viar stabbed the buck several times before it died. Unfortunately, because Viar did not kill the deer with his gun, he will not be going into he record books. If Viar had killed the buck with his rifle, he would be the 1 buck ever killed in the state of Georgia.
