Three local Derby men missed the opportunity of a lifetime when lead band member , Patrick Annable made a massive blunder.
Expectations were high and the bookies put odd on favorites for Derby Trio " THE RAMROD CONCEPTION " to win the highest accolade awarded to an Up and coming Band, song of the year .
Unfortunately , during the main sing-off , Patrick totally fell to pieces and forgot his words, sending the rest of the boys reeling as their dreams suddenly shattered.
Rear vocalist Ant Wallis ( pictured right ) said " I,m lost for words mate ! , pardon the pun after what caused it ! but the guys a bloody Bafoon ! he was on the lash last night , down at Molly Magoos and did,nt roll in till about 4 this morning !! He knew it was a big day for us and has blown it for the lot of us, I,m gutted to the core ,sorry ! I need to go and sit down " .
Other band vocalist and Trumpet player , John O Leary also spoke of his disappointment and utter disbelief at the cruel and and shameful chain of events.
" I told him to stay off the pop, he does it everytime we get a break !! straight down the town , wad full o notes and does,nt come home till it,s all spent , he,s cost us this time and we ain,t happy mate !.
I ,ve been trying in this game for about 5 years now to hit the big time and this has just crushed me ! looks like it,s back on the spanners for another 10 years , I ,m bloody sick of it "
Speaking to Patrick who was still in the toilets throwing up, we asked him how he felt about the monumental disaster he had caused and upset shown by the other lads , but refused to comment.
However , later on when in a more stable condition , we once again put the question to him, for which he replied , " look I,m sorry for what I put the lads through , but I just fell to pieces at the Chorus, my head went blank ! I know chances like this don,t come up very often and we now have to pay the price. "
Since speaking , it became evident to us that neither Patrick Ant or John have seen neither of each other since and the band has now dis-banded.
Patrick is currently working at Celanese , Ant is at the Cattle Market and john still on the spanners at Toys r Us.
