Columbus Ohio - A spokesperson from the Transplant Center at Ohio State University has released information on a ground breaking procedure to be preformed for the first time to transplant a healthy kidney from a gorilla into a human host.

Sidney resident, John Stockstill has been chosen by random selection to receive the kidney within the next month. Mr Stockstill suffers from kidney failure and has been diagnosed with ESRD for several years and is currently receiving dialysis treatments. He is also just one of thousands that are listed on the national kidney waiting list.

Researchers have been studing the possibilities of organ donations from other animals for several years and have reached the point of human trails. If the procedure is successful this will shorten the waiting period for organ transplants worldwide.
