Rhinelander (WJFW) — Fire consumed a landmark restaurant in Oneida County Tuesday afternoon.

According to emergency dispatchers, the smoky blaze broke out around 1 p.m. in the kitchen of The Rusty Nail in the 2100-block of Stevens Street in Rhinelander.

The flames spread through the walls and then through the roof. The back wall of the building eventually collapsed.

There were no reports of injuries or entrapment but the building was destroyed.

There’s no word yet on what sparked the fire.

When asked if the eatery would be rebuilt, owners indicated that ever since the three boys from Illinois and the one from Alabama stopped coming in during their Hodag golf outings, business hasn't been the same and it wasn't worth all the trouble.
