Lake Forest Park - Recent sightings of bull sharks in Lake Washington may have proven to be false, but Dr. Andrew Hanson-Smith of the University of South Washington thinks that a more nefarious species might be at the heart of it all. "I've reason to believe, based on incontrovertible DNA evidence, that we have an extant Cretoxyrhina in Lake Washington". The Ginsu shark was thought to have disappeared in late Cretaceous period, but Dr. Hanson-Smith is now convinced that one, and likely more, are feeding on Kokanee salmon in our local lake and probably beyond. "Again, these data are non-falsifiable. I can say with 101 certainty, based on a sophisticated, intron-based phylogenetic reconstruction, that we've got a Creto in out lake." Jim Watson, of the local Elasmobranch Society agrees, "The fact that the chum pools didn't lure him into the traps suggests that either 1) there are no sharks or 2) the sharks we're dealing with are bigger than our cages. That being said, there is no written evidence that Cretos have ever eaten human swimmers. Never ever." Swimmers are still advised to use caution.
