Shark seen eating Alligator at Smith Mountain Lake

The Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries released a statement saying that a resident of Smith Mountain Lake witnessed a 16 foot shark eating a 12 foot alligator this morning near the State Park. Upon arriving to the area a DGIF official was able to recover a half eaten alligator. After examining the remains, the official stated that it appeared the alligator was a female and had rescently had babies. DGIF is warning residents to be cautious while entering the water in the mid sections of the lake until they can conclude the investigation.
