We had reported about Sam the brave dog that was viciously attacked by Piranha in the Shenandoah River. Biologist received the netted fish and found they where not piranha as previously believed. Upon inspection they found they where red eared bluegill that have been mutated by the cooling water from the nuclear facility. Red Eared Bluegill are a distant cousin of the smaller red piranha and it is now believed the combined toxicity of e-coli and microscopic particles of illudium Q-36 caused this mutation. The illudium Q-36 was thought to be safer and the plant was in the process of changing the rods for the reduced waste. But the Nuclear Safty Commission found the power rods contain the illudium Q-36 shed microscopic particles into the coolant water and past the micron-filters.
The particles where found to be absorbed into the gillplates for the affected fish and when exposed the the e-coli trigger a mutation in the fish. Sam (short for Samantha) was to be breed next month and they are now worried t
If the introduction of the mutated fish DNA will effect embryo during the gestation. The embryos breathe ambianic fluid and the researchers are showing concern that this might start a mutation in the puppies.
We are following this story closely.
