D. Scott Shoemaker, seen here on the shores of Lunday Lake in mid-May, demonstrates his signature technique which has won him numerous bites...all of them from misquitoes.
"The last fish I caught was in 2013," says Shoemaker, who has worn through four folding chairs in as many years, due to sitting in them for such extended periods of time without getting up. "My friends say I need to keep trying, but I think they just want me along on the trip because I bring a huge bag of peanuts every year."
The hapless "fisherman" refuses to get discouraged. "I just know that 2018 will be my year...or 2019...or 2020, for sure."
