PORTALES, NM: Hometown baker, and local folk-lore expert, Chris Parrish of Portales, strikes it rich on Thursday afternoon, and then immediately throws it all away. Chris and his three children visited Oasis State Park, located a few miles north of Portales, on Thursday. On a nature hike through the park Chris kicked up an unusual stone. An ultra rare piece of mendaxonite, to be exact. Mendaxonite is so rare, in fact, this is said to be the second sample ever discovered and is probably worth millions (if not tens of millions) of dollars. Unimpressed with the visual appearance of the stone, Chris let his 5 year old son, Hunter, throw the stone into the Oasis fishing pond. "It was just so stupid looking, i had to get rid of it", says Parrish, of the stone. "I mean, it was the worst looking rock I have ever seen, EVER!!" when asked to elaborate, Parrish refused further comment. Unfortunately, there is no wading or swimming in the pond at the New Mexico park, so this massive fortune will forever be lost to Davy Jones' locker...
