Despite previously announcing that season 8 would be the final season of HBO's Game of Thrones, the network has decided to cancel the series immediately following next week's episode airs (the second of Season 7). The remaining five filmed episodes of this season won't be seen until the Blu ray set is released in December. HBO programming VP U.N. Owen stated that the fans would "just have to deal with it".
