A recent study by the Association of Terrapin Researchers (ATR) has concluded that the high population of turtles is having a detrimental effect of the railing along Wheeling Avenue in Muncie, Indiana. The turtles appear to be off-gassing caustic substances, causing the paint to peel and steel to rust. It has been shown that diets high in White River trout have been linked to the destructive gas production.
