A small local community was on lockdown today after Cora the Tundra Wolf was reported to be missing from her enclosure around noon time today. Zoo staff member Barbara Montgomery was making her rounds for lunch feeding when she noticed Cora's enclosure was empty. Zoo grounds were then evacuated and emergency personnel was call in. After searching the zoo grounds with no sign of Cora, an emergency lockdown was then put on this small town.
Searching for Cora the Tundra Wolf was State and local police along with animal control. Shortly after 2:00pm a distress call came over the radio by Officer Thomas of the 33rd district. Witnesses say Cora had the officer trapped in an alley on Rambler St. It was a very scary scene said Hannah Davis of Rambler St. Mrs. Davis said then a brown Jeep pulled up and she noticed a man get out and walk straight into the alley where Cora had the officer trapped. They were in the alley for just a few minutes which felt like an eternity. This man then walked from the alley with Cora on a rope leash. He took her straight into an animal control vehicle that was near the scene. After Cora was secured in the vehicle, the unknown man got back into his Jeep and left the scene. Mrs. Davis can describe the man as caucasian, 35 to 40, shaved head and some tattoos. She said he was very calm when entering the alley, like he knew exactly what he was doing.
Cora is now safely back in her newly secured enclosure and no one was hurt thanks to the bravery of this unknown citizen.
