DNR wardens announced today that the 2017 deer hunting season will be candelled in the township of Deerbrook Wisconsin.Wardens have found numerous turkeys running around with holes in there abdomen.
The area has been narrowed down to Cty Rd. C At the intersection of McCloud Creek Rd.Stretching the length of McCloud Creek Rd. to the landfill.
Warden D Nottruth states that he is stumped on how the turkeys are getting the holes in the abdomen .It is suspected that it is the doing of the Madagascan hole worm.D N R wardens will be out in full force sampling turkeys abdomens to see if they can come up with a solution to eradicate this devastating worm.
Warden D Nottruth states till further notice no deer are to be harvested in this area do to the suspicion of cross-contamination in the deer herd.
