"Daily use of a digital camera is now being linked to an increase in brain tumors" stated Dr. Richard Jameson, Stanford Medical. It started showing a serious pattern in 2014 with the advent on larger memory cards.
"Increased memory cards place the camera close to the forehead for longer periods of time, and the transfer of images time is higher." Professional photographers are shooting in ever greater numbers at one session, and with the decrease in tripod use the camera is almost constantly at their eye.
Novice photographers are also starting to show up in the study, with soccer moms and stay at home moms at the top of the list.
Getting a tripod in the hands of the average photographer would slow the spread, but it is still a huge concern. 2018 is rumored to have a new 128 gb memory card that retails under $40, and that raises concerns that people will over shoot even more.
"Every 1000 images photographed at the eye adds the equivalent of 1 pack of cigarettes to the tumor. It's easy for an over-shooter to start getting headaches and nausea within 5 years of picking up a camera" , Dr. Mehgan Billings.
Remembering to take just a few minutes in between each shot is really the only way to prevent further damage short of using a tripod. We contacted two major tripod manufactures and they both talked only off the record, saying they have been saying this for ears.
