Titusville, FL. – Authorities say they're investigating a possible connection between a shooting in eastern Florida and an online cult.
According to CBS , Melbourne, FL. affiliate WYOU-TV, police say Cody Bates, 28, fatally shot his ex-girlfriend , 26 -year-old Selena Harris, in the forehead from close range early Saturday night at Steve Diner in Titusville, Fl.
Lt. Darrel Williams, of the North Brevard Tutusville Regional Police, says Harris told officers Williams Bates was having "online issues" with a cult and asked him to kill her
Police say she obliged, then called 911 to report the shooting.
Williams told WYOU it appears Bates and Harris were survivalists, fearing the world would come to an end.
A forensic autopsy on harris was scheduled for Monday
