An Ocala man has cut off his nose in a bizarre incident at the 100 Proof Saloon located at 56 Milton Drive in Ocala.
Jason Needle entered the bar around 1:30 am Saturday morning waving a knife and screaming at patrons to "run for the hills" or they would be "next". According to multiple witnesses Needle then sliced off his nose, fell to the ground clutching his face and said "That'll teach you".
Kenny Batson, Ocala's police chief said "This was one of the weirdest things we've ever seen in Ocala. We have no idea why Mr. Needle was trying to spite his own face, but we think he may have been using bath salts, which is known to incite bizarre behavior when abused.
The owner of the 100 Proof Saloon, Harry Knutson, said "this is the first time something like this has ever happened here, although I once saw someone slap themselves silly, which was very disturbing as well". Knutson also added "I just hope nothing happens like this again at our place. God knows we've all got enough problems".
Needle was taken to Ocala General Hospital and is listed in "fair" condition.
