Utilities charges may continue to rise after the city council's latest decision on development of a new football stadium for the local peewee football teams. The Appalachian Youth Football League, in works with the council, have received a promise from McDonald's to donate the first million dollars of the projected 17 billion dollar project. The rest of the money for the project will come from the city's funding.
One anonymous council member was quoted as saying, "We hope to double the economic boom that was created by the first stadium."
The 74,535 seat Piedmont Thunder Dome will be constructed at Fagan's Park, and is expected to be finished by 2027.
