Local minister Bill Perkins has been named one of the 10 most influential preachers in Alabama. The Board of a Birmingham based organization, Religion in Alabama released the list today. Perkins was cited for his work on building unity across racial and doctrinal divides. His challenging sermons and outstanding pastoral skills were also noted.
Perkins shrugged off the honor stating "I am just trying to do my best". Perkins also noted some short comings especially when it comes to forgiving Christian Lattner of Duke fame. He also asked if the award would be presented at an all you could eat buffet.
The father of two and a recent grandfather he expects to continue in his role at Central Church of Christ in Athens for years to come.
