Broken Bow, NE -- On Monday Curt Parker could not believe his eyes as he looked out from his ranch house outside of here. He wondered if he was seeing an illusion or was it real?

He grabbed his camera and snapped a picture of the giant beast as it wondered past his home. He then called the Custer County Sheriff Department and reported what he had seen. Deputy Dog (Dog) Bennett was dispatched to Parker's ranch. Parker reported the Tiger greeted him at the foot of the half-mile long lane to Parker's house. The Tiger disappeared into the long grass.

Nebraska Game and Parks was contacted after verification of the tiger sighting. Supervisor William Cody said they are currently searching the area for the Tiger and are ready with a crew manning a mobile cage and tranquilizer guns. Game and Parks has not yet located the beast the vast farm and grass land of central Nebraska.

Apparently a rancher north of Parker's Ranch had called Game and Parks earlier in the day to report one of his prized heifers had been killed and mostly eaten. At the time the heifer's death was attributed to a mountain lion which occasionally roam in this part of Nebraska.

Games and Parks believes the Tiger is an escapee from a South Dakota game ranch that fled from captivity on July 22.
