We have all seen the posts on Facebook: "The 5 Most Horrifyingly Unhealthy Foods You Eat Every Day"... "They Had Given Up Hope Until The Doctor Said These 8 Glorious Words"... "You Won't Believe What The Cameras Caught This Woman Doing In Public!!" The posts are known as "clickbait" and are designed to make readers want to click on a hyperlink especially when the link leads to content of dubious value or interest. They are annoying at best and can lead to malware at worst.

But now Congress and the President have stepped in to put a stop to the heinous practice. Today President Trump signed into law the Freedom From Clickbait Act, a law that carries serious consequences for those who insist on cluttering social media with these odious posts. The law provides for a hefty $200,000 fine for the first offense, a $750,000 fine and 10 years in prison for the second offense, and 50 years in prison (with no possibility of parole) for the third offense. Each sentence will be carried out immediately, without trial, as soon as the authorities are notified of the offence. The law is slated to go in effect on August 4, 2017 and people are encouraged to snitch on and rat-out offenders. All persons who report offenders will receive $10,000 in tax-free cash for each offender reported. However, false reports will result in the person reporting to face the same punishment as an offender.
