Yesterday marked a key meeting to further talks on merging the Jacksonville Beach Fire Department with the much larger Jacksonville Fire & Rescue Department. Fire Marshal Steve Sciotto spoke at the meeting with city administrators from both sides yesterday stating "We are one fire away from disaster!". The topic of the inability of JBFD to adequately handle a fire in a high rise building or nursing home has been the topic of conversation for the past two years...
