A Venice Beach local was found in the South Venice Grand Canal early Wednesday morning and pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities released the name of the victim, Robin Petric, 32, and a local paddle board rental shop owner. Neighbors, Juli Helms and Ricci Uvvi, discovered the body at 8:00 am during their morning walk around at the end of the canal, near Marina Del Ray. A visibly shaken Shultz said, "We noticed a stray paddleboard floating in the water next to a Great Blue Harron and went to retrieve it. We discovered Robin on the bottom of the canal under it (the board)".

Canal neighbors are suspect in foul play.
