The Illinois House and Senate have voted on a Cook county gun confiscation for AR15 and related "style" rifles. According to Congressman J. Gormel (D) "It's been a long time coming and finally people are going to feel safe at night" Gormel stated that confiscation will be conducted by State Police and will start in the Summit/Justice communities.
People with these rifles are asked to calmly and peacefully surrender these rifles and they will in turn be granted a monetary gift card of a undisclosed amount. We spoke with Sgt. R. Varner from the Illinois State Police Dept. who will be conducting the raids about specific details about the upcoming operation. He responded with "sorry I can't give specifics about operation cabela, but I can say that anyone attempting to interfere with our mission they will be met with a larger force and consequences will be extreme. We have profiled thousands of people that have the guns we'll be confiscating, and have different plans of action depending on each specific individual."
Many Liberal minded people are seeing this as a small win for the anti gun community, who feel that no one needs an AR15 or related style of weapon. The Democratic Party sees this as a win as well, however the Republican Party is not as thrilled about this and sees this as an infringement against the constitution.
