New York City Mayor Bill De Blasio is not making any friends in the Queens area, but he is making the city more than $20 billion in a historic and unprecedented land deal. On Sept 13, the mayor signed off an a deal to transfer ownership of nearly 100 acres of NYC's more than 650 acres at its Alley Pond Park. The deal struck between NYC and Forster and Partner's , Norman Foster will result in both the commercial and residential development of portions of the park located on Springfield Blvd. and Winchester Blvd. The resolution received extensive support from the City Council with no votes only coming from district 23's Barry Grodenchik and district 27's Daneek Miller. Once constructed the properties are expected to bring in more than $32 million annually in property taxes and an additional $60 million annually in taxes from the commercial properties. Forster and Partners will take possession of the property in April of 2018 and break ground in May.
