Phillips Hand Tools Corporation, the world's top manufacturer of screwdrivers and other hand tools, has announced that they will be ending production of left-handed screwdrivers by the end of 2017.

"With all of the retooling and changing of manufacturing processes for their production, and considering the number of units sold, it does not make financial sense for us to continue making them," a company spokesperson said. "We understand that this may upset our left-handed customers, but be assured that we have not forgotten them. We will be redesigning the right-handed screwdriver so that it will fit easily in either hand."

The company stated that they will continue producing left-handed monkey wrenches, left-handed hammers, and left-handed pliers. The screwdrivers will join tweezers, hatchets, and awls as discontinued left-handed tools.
