Breakingnews365.net and it's sister site, breakingnews247.net, are soon to be under attack due to misuse by the internet at large. The sites, which allow visitors to fabricate news stories and pass them off as real, have come under fire following the creation of a false claim that Reese's Peanut Butter Cups are going to be discontinued in the near future.

Following a barrage of angry emails, threats, and complaints, the Hershey company has filed suit against C.B. Media Vibes, the Belgian company that operates the site. While not violating any laws, Hershey believes they can show that the prank caused fiscal and public relations damages and intend to pursue the maximum allowed in damages, aiming to shut down the sites and set a precedent.

"Everyone knows you shouldn't trust anything you read on the internet," wrote one person, "but just as one can't yell 'Fire!' in a crowded theater, it's important to recognize that 'fake news' has very real consequences. People get wrapped up in something, legitimate sites don't check their sources and quote false sources, and things go too far. Just calling it a prank or a joke doesn't undo all of that." He went on to describe the sort of person that would create fake articles aimed at the population at large as "attention seeking, immature, and puerile," and hopes that the court will order C.B. Media Vibes to turn the creator's name over so that they can be targeted by Hershey in a civil suit.

Please, tell your friends to always check the website that an article is posted on. Other indications that it may be 'fake news' include poor grammar, misspelled words, unlikely or unbelievable material without named or verifiable sources, and being reposted by gullible people. Remember: A lie can travel halfway around the world before the truth can get its boots on.

Tom Hartnell, as one is currently referring to oneself, would like to point out that this article is no more real than the one about the Reese's Peanut Butter Cups being discontinued. One considers such pranks and lies to be obnoxious, at best a poor joke and at worst causing people distress, frustration, or embarrassment. One would like to encourage people again to check the facts of any claim made on the internet, where lying is considerably easier and faster than telling the truth.
