Green Bay Packer Head Coach Mike McCarthy has been let go according to a statement Friday morning by Packer General Manager Ted Thompson. Thompson did not elaborate on the firing, saying only that Defensive Coach Don Capwrs will take over the head coach position until a new head coach is named. Rumors that McCarthy had ties to Las Vegas bookmakers surfaced yesterday and are thought to be the reason for the firing. Calls to the Packers have not been answered.
