Dollar General files for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, stores closings inevitable
On September the 17th ,2017 Dollar General announced that it has filed for bankruptcy as part of a financial restructuring that was done “proactively and voluntarily.”
Facing declining sales, it would close 7 of its U.S. stores with expiring leases during its 2017 fiscal year. The chain has closed hundreds of store locations over the last few years while placing an increased emphasis on online sales.
