The City of Leslie has banned Chipmunks from residing within the city limits. I asked the mayor why the city is taking such drastic actions toward the little critters and his answer was "They are responsible for a lot of destruction of city property, and they don't pay taxes." I pondered the prospect of banning chipmunks and don't see how it's possible to round them up and herd them out of town. It would be easier to assign a tax value to each chipmunk and then send each homeowner who provides safe haven a tax bill. I mentioned this to the mayor who responded "We have already contacted a local cat herder, hoping he can apply his skills to chipmunks as well." I guess the expression on my face said it all, as the mayor frowned and said he had a meeting to attend. Stay tuned for updates...
