Facebook to Ban Users Who Post Fake News Stories

Facebook announced on September 22, 2017 that while users will be able to keep their Facebook accounts and scroll through posts, those who share news stories from fake news websites will no longer be allowed to post for a minimum of 30 days.
“We feel that the torrent of erroneous information being created by a host of fake news sites is only adding to the current turmoil we face in this uncertain age. People share the information without any research or discovery as long as even the title of the piece fits within their views”. This leads to the proliferation of misinformation and animosity abound”, stated Facebook Content Manager Steven DiVitano.
He also stated that the new guidelines and a list of known fake news sites will be published to the Facebook official page early next week with an implementation date of October 15, 2017.
