On September 3rd a new law went into affect making it illegal to stop for more than 3 seconds at a stop sign.

John Davis, a spokesman for the Oregon state police said in an interview last week that, "it is unsafe to remain stationary at a stop sign for more than 3 seconds. Waiting for more than 3 seconds is unnecessary and clearly done with the intent of causing an accident. We will be watching out for people that choose not to comply with the 3 second rule."

A recently arrested driver, who wishes to remain anonymous, said she was "outraged" by this new law. She told a reporter in a recent interview, "I was only stopped for a little over 3 seconds, and had no intent on causing an accident." the officer claims that he saw malicious intent in her eyes, and this is what led to her subsequent arrest.

Another man said, "l am happy that we finally have a law against stopping for more than 3 seconds. It's time we get these criminals off our streets."

Only time will tell how this new law plays out.
