After a devastating second quarter loss, Amazon.com has officially entered Chapter 11 Bankruptcy filings with the state of Washington from their Seattle headquarters.

Amazon cites poor customers sales, increased shipping prices, and an influx of costly returns which has caused it "unprecedented financial peril" from which it "cannot recover". Amazon.com has vowed to cancel all exisiting orders placed on the site and shut down the site and serviced over the course of 2017 with its complete closure on January 1st, 2018.

Due to numerous subscriptions currently active with the site, Amazon spokesman Jeff Bezos has stated, "We understand a lot of families rely on Amazon services including Amazon Music, Amazon Video, and Amazon Photos, and we want to give them a chance to transition to [other] services before the site is shut down. However, as we are operating at a loss, we can only keep service up until January of [this] year.

As of this writing Amazon.com continues to work and function as normal, but Bezos cautions, "We cannot process orders from this date forward. We have ceased shipment at our warehouses and locked the doors." Orders placed on the site "will not be processed" and consumers should "look elsewhere for their online shopping needs from this day forward."
